RISKY

RISK (born Kelly Graval), also known as RISKY, is a Los Angeles-based graffiti writer and contemporary artist often credited as a founder of the West Coast graffiti scene. In the 1980s, he was one of the first graffiti writers in Southern California to paint freight trains, and he pioneered writing on "heavens", or freeway overpasses. He took his graffiti into the gallery with the launch of the Third Rail series of art shows, and later created a line of graffiti-inspired clothing. In 2017, RISK was knighted by the Medici Family.

  1. THE ART

Our concept is for risky to do his paint/neon artwork on a historical surf board from the SHACC archives.
We can’t think of a better artist to be a juxtaposition of modern art on a historical canvas all while tapping into their own history and love for surfing.

2. GALLERY EVENT AUCTION

The SHACC will pay RISKY outright for the art ($30K per srt piece, pending cost for neon treatment addition). 80% of the auction money will go entirely to the SHACC.
~
RISky’s new gallery space will be hosting the AUCTION EVENT for free to support the collaboration. 10% percentage of the auction will go to 4ocean to supply food, drink, and amenities for the auction event as well as 10% to make.believe.picture for the coordination, promotion, and advertising of the event.
~
CHRIS NUñez will be doing live tattoo work on people at the event as an additional layer of hype and draw for an audience with a percentage of those tattoo bookings going to the shacc as well.
~
SOCIAL MEDIA: between the shacc, risky, 4ocean, make.believe, and chris nuñez the social media attention and build-up will be the best of each genre benefiting from one another in the cross-pollenation of audiences ranging between art, surf, tattoo, and ocean charities for an added total of 12 million social media followers collectively (4Ocean has 10 million alone), not including personal accounts from each entity’s team members as well.
~
The documentation, filming, and social posting of the creation of the art all the way through to this gallery auction event is included in the existing phase ii budget agreement between the shacc and make.believe.pictures
~
Additionally, THE SHACC is interested in having an art piece for their museum as a permanent installation which will be purchased outright from risky for $30K (pending additional cost for neon treatment)

3. CUSTOM PRINTS

In addition to the artwork created on the surf boards for the auction gallery event, risky will be taking photographs of the art and making artful photography prints in his shop for sale that will have hand-embelished paint over them to add value and make them limited-edition and unique.
~
Risky will be taking 50% of the proceeds from these prints, 10% will go to make.believe for facilitating and brokering the transaction, and the remaining 40% will go to the shacc.

4. merchandise

And finally, risky will be the photographs of the surfboard art and screen printing them onto clothing at his facility. Risky will be taking 25% of the proceeds for merchandise.
~
4ocean will be supplying recycled plastic garments for risky to screen print on and will receive 10% of the proceeds for this donation.
~
MAKE.believe will be receiving 10% of this transaction for fascilitating the process, event, and sales
~
The shacc will be taking 55% of the proceeds for this transaction
